True Italian Taste
Italy has over 300 agri-food products and 500 wines recognized as Protected Designation of Origin and Protected Geographical indication by the European Union. In fact, Italy is the European country with the largest number of DOP (Protected Designation of Origin) and IGP (Protected Geographical Indication) food products recognized by the European Union.
Unfortunately, every year consumers around the world spend billions of dollars buying Italian sounding products that only superficially evoke an Italian origin and yet are not related to the authentic Made in Italy production standards. Italian sounding phenomenon are those products that have been made to look and sound like their Italian equivalents but in reality are imitations with no connection to Italy.
Today, these Italian sounding products represent more than the double of the value of real Italian exported food products. In North America market alone, only a product out of ten turns out to be authentic Made in Italy. Sales of Italian sounding products worldwide have reached the value of $150 cad.
The True Italian Taste initiative financed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and implemented by Assocamerestero in collaboration with the Italian Chambers of Commerce Abroad within the framework of a national campaign called “The Extraordinary Italian Taste” whose main goal is to raise awareness about the authentic and certified agri-food Italian products.
Taste is an engaging online video course portal under this initiative by The Italian Chamber of Commerce in Canada West aimed to raise awareness about the authentic and certified agri-food Italian products, their origin and why Italian sounding products can not compare in terms of taste and quality with authentic Made in Italy food products.
